Heavy haul trucking is the transportation of any load that is over size (Height: 13.6 ft, Width: 8.6ft, Length: 53 ft) or over weight (Gross 80,000 lbs). This requires specialized equipment and planning.

Regulations vary state by state and federally. Generally: city, county, municipal, and special case permits are required.

Trucks hauling heavy freight must be well marked with explicitly visible signage. These typically include: oversized load banners, safety lights, safety flags, and pilot/escort vehicles.
